Hayley made her stage debut in the title role of Peter Pan at the New Victoria Theatre, London, in 1969. Performances ran into 1970.
She appeared as Irene in The Three Sisters at the Phoenix Theatre in 1970.
She appeared as Hedvig in the Henrik Ibsen play The Wild Duck at the Criterion Theatre, London. The opening performance was on 10 Nov 1970.
She appeared as Rose Trelawny in Trelawny of the Wells, which premiered 12 January 1972 at the Theatre Royal Bristol.
She appeared as Alison Ames in A Touch of Spring at the Comedy Theatre, London, from 1975-76.
She appeared as Mrs. deWinter in Rebecca at the Arnaud Theatre, Guilford, in 1977.
My Fat Friend: 1978
She co-starred with Ian Bannen in Hush and Hide, which opened at The Grand Theatre in Wolverhampton on 29 May, 1978.
She appeared as Gwendolyn Fairfax in The Importance of Being Earnest at The Chichester Festival Theatre in 1979.
She appeared in The Summer Party at the Crucible, Sheffield, in 1980.
She appeared as Sally in Tally's Folly at the Lyric Hammersmith in 1982.

She appeared in Dial M for Murder at the Vaudeville Theatre in 1983-84.
She appeared as Carrie in Toys in the Attic at the Palace Theatre, Watford, in 1985.
She appeared in The Kidnap Game at the Theatre Royal, Windsor, in 1991.
In 1991 she toured Australia in The King and I.
In 1992 she toured Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom, with her sister Juliet, in a production of Noel Coward's Fallen Angels.
In 1994 she played The Countess of Chell in the New Shakespeare Company's production of the musical The Card at the Open Park Theatre in Regent Park.
From 17th July 1995, through sometime in January? 1996, she appeared as Margaret in Richard Harris' play Dead Guilty at the Apollo Theatre in London's West End.
She appeared in Brief Encounter, 23-28 Sep 1996, at the Tyne Theatre and Opera House, Westgate Road, Newcastle.
From 1 April, 1997 through 12 April, 1998 she starred as Anna in the US touring production of Rodgers and Hammerstein's The King And I.
From 28 March through 16 April, 2000, she appeared in Noël Coward's Suite in 2 Keys in New York City, NY.
Hayley was scheduled to appear in the world premiere of Parallel Portrait performances of Sister Mozart at The Museum Theater, Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art in Hartford, CT on 3, 5? and 6 May, 2001.
She was scheduled to appear at each performance, along with Katherine Helmond and Joie Lee, on the stage at New York City's Westside Theatre in Eve Ensler's The Vagina Monologues from May 15 through June 24, 2001.
Hayley was selected to head the cast of the A Contemporary Theatre (ACT) and The 5th Avenue Theatre Company co-production of Stephen Sondheim and Hugh Wheeler's Tony Award-winning (1973) musical A Little Night Music September 18 through October 14, 2001 at The 5th Avenue Theatre in Seattle, Washington.
On January 7, 2002, Hayley was scheduled to appear with Richard Easton and Edward Hibbert at a free public program of The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts reading scenes from the plays of Alan Bennett, including the first American reading of scenes from his recent London hit:

Scenes from such plays of the award-winning British playwright as Forty Years On, The Madness of George III, Kafka’s Dick, The Old Country, and Single Spies (A Question of Attribution). The program will also include the American premiere reading of scenes from The Lady in the Van, which starred Maggie Smith in the West End production. Participating artists include Richard Easton, the 2001 Tony Award winner for Best Actor currently starring in Noises Off; Edward Hibbert, known for his recurring role as the radio food critic on television’s Frazier and currently co-starring on the New York stage in Noises Off; and Hayley Mills, best known for her many films, who made her Off-Broadway debut last year in Noel Coward’s Suite in Two Keys.
Hayley Mills and William Atherton starred in the thriller Wait Until Dark at The Cape Playhouse in Dennis, MA from June 30 through July 12, 2003. Among others, Hayley's son Jason was featured.
Hayley was featured in A Rare Pattern at the Rich Forum, Stamford Center for the Arts, 307 Atlantic St., Stamford, CT 06901 at 2pm on Sunday, December 5, 2004.
From August 31 through November 6, 2005, Hayley Mills starred in Two Can Play at the New Theatre Restaurant, 9229 Foster, Overland Park, Kansas. The play, by A. J. Carothers, is a modern, intelligent, romantic comedy about an estranged married couple who run into each other at a class reunion. He wants to rekindle the flame while she has other ideas.
