Comments: I too was shocked to read the announcement about Hayley's illness. Hopefully, she's won the battle and will enjoy the length of years that her dad did. Keep her in your prayers, fans, as I will.

Comments: I am totally blown away by how this lady kept her illness private and did not look for sympathy from her fans. I admire her fortitude and strong character. She has more courage than most men I know. Now she has gone public so she can warn others. Here's to you Hayley! Wish others in Hollywood would stand as tall as you.

Comments: The first time I discovered Hayley was in 1962 when I saw 'The Parent Trap' and it was love at first sight. I saw that film 10 times thereafter as well as all the others she starred in. I remember one hot summer night in Teaneck, New Jersey I was watching The Tonight Show which was hosted I think by Jack Paar. Hayley was being interviewed and in those days I think it was a live broadcast. I was only about 45 minutes away from N.Y.C. by bus and I jumped up,ran down to the busstop and caught the bus for downtown Manhattan. I felt sure I'd be able to meet Hayley at the stage door when the program ended but my timing was off and I never made it. Shortly thereafter I joined the Navy and plastered to the inside of my locker were pictures of Hayley that I had cut out of numerous teen magazines. I was truly smitten by her--my mother was a big fan as well. I still think about her today and I admire her for being a vegetarian and having compassion for the animals. I am working on being vegan as I've been a vegetarian since 1981. So it is with great joy that at least I can make these comments about a woman whom I"ll probably never meet but deeply admire.

Comments: Hayley was my Miley Cyrus growing up in the '60s as I'm 3-1/2 years younger. I saw all her movies many times and my friends were amazed at my imitations of not only her voice, but facial expressions. It came easy because I was always an Anglophile. It breaks my heart that she went from singing "The 23rd Psalm" with an angelic voice in "Tiger Bay" (excellent movie!) to having a nude shot of her backside in "The Family Way" just 7 years later and did every role possible to break her "good girl" image. Her dad, Sir John Mills, who deserved much honor for his skills, was in that movie and I'm saddened he allowed his 20 year-old daughter to do that, not only as her father, but with her wholesome Disney fame and image. Was she searching for her father's love with his frequent absences filming when she married Roy Boulting? I can only hope she's had some happiness in her life as she gave the world much happiness through her early movies. It just breaks my heart that she went into Krishna and New Age beliefs/occult. I'm praying for her salvation. Her daddy died at 97, so I pray she lives long enough to come (back?) to Christ.

Comments: Belated Happy Birthday, Haley!
I just shared Moon-Spinners with my 20-year-old daughter who's going to be a screen writer. She says it's brilliant and will probably be one of her favorites. I would have been happy with "I don't hate it!"
It was the first movie I saw that made me think boys were for something other than being annoying. I wanted to be you, have your adventures, and wear those clothes. I walked around saying "Mahk!" all the time. Yummy!
Thanks to the host of this site. I really appreciate it!

Comments: Happy birthday Hayley! In my lifetime I have kept my nerve under enemy fire, in civilian life kept my cool dealing with fires and explosions, spoken without great difficulty to generals, congressmen and sports figures but meeting you caused my knees to knock, my hands to shake and I plumb forgot the clever things I was going to say. Still your number one fan. Happy birthday Hayley Mills!

Comments: I'm a few years younger than Hayley. Like many others, I "fell in love with her". I'm a woman. I saw her movies over and over, and my friend and I made a few scrapbooks about her. I wrote her many letters which were unanswered. I think Tiger Bay was my favorite movie, though I loved Pollyanna and The Parent Trap. I never thought I'd "outgrow" Hayley, but of course I did. Yet, when I saw a DVD of The Parent Trap with interviews and stories by Hayley and her double, I found it fascinating!!! So, I guess I'm still a Hayley fan!! I don't think she aged too well, but more recently I thought she looked better. Maybe she had wrinkles removed. I didn't realize she had 2 boys and they grew up too!! I've just discovered all of this information online about her and it's fun! Thanks for your site!!

Comments: If Ms.Mills reads this at all. The movie the trouble with angels was very popular in the 1960's my suggestion idea for a new update version with Ms Mills playing the role of the mother superior some how reuniting her and Ms.June Harding with as having a niece/daughter/granddaughter causing problems at St. francis like you all did. I think it would be great movie in today's world think about thank you.

Comments: Hello, what a wonderful find this site is! I too have loved Hayley for ever! I have had the fabulous experience of meeting with her, not once but twice when she came to New Zealand in 1993 with Juliet in "Fallen Angels". Believe this or believe this not - I have had a HUG from Hayley Mills! A wonderful memory. Last August, Peter and I made a trip to Britain and out to Denham where her parents had last lived. We got some lovely photos and I got to water the flowers on their gravesite (which is just behind the house) with a lovely old watering can that was just waiting nearby to be used. I love Mary Hayley Bells writing - the book "Whistle Down the Wind" is an absolute favourite of my collection and also "What Shall We Do Tomorrow". Well, don't want to take up too much space, so Cherrio for now, and Thank You once again for this Guestbook.

Comments: I am sorry Hayley and Juliet about the incorrect spelling of Juliet's name. Talking about Juliet - I used to watch a USA soap for several years. However, I lost track of it for some reason. Also, the time slot was changed several times. So I have been unable to find out how it ended. Is it still in production. Help, I have gone blank - what was Juliet's character called.

Comments: I wanted to add that I was born in 1949 and have always been a fan of Hayley Mills. I must admit I was a little jealous of her natural beauty and screen presence. Also, I am a big fan of her late fathers films, especially the old b&w films. I have even seen a b&w film featuring her sister Juliette. The ABC(public broadcasting)in Australia had been showing old British & USA films late at night for many years. However, this has now drastically reduced.i should copied more.

I have always hoped they would have a release on dvd, but no studio has ever released it. It will eventually come up, I am sure, in one of John Mills' movie collections that are being released in England now. It is a shame that this beautiful film has never had a major video or dvd release. It is one of Hayley's finest performances, and of course it was directed by her dad, John, based on a story written by her mother. It certainly has all of the Mills' family talents in it, and definitely one of the best films ever made.

I recently found this video by searching there.
I wish they would remake this and some of her other less known movies. I think the one I bought must have been taped from the television, the quality is really terrible. The quality of her Disney movies were so fantastic, it is a real let down to view anything of lesser photographic quality.

My least favorite movie would probably be Endless Night, but mostly because of the senseless plot, definitely not because of her acting. She can take any movie and turn it into gold, I really do believe. I love her every bit as much now as I did in the 60's.
Wouldn't it be cool to own something that belonged to Hayley, a ring or bracelet or something? My dream!

Comments: In my opinion Hayley gave stellar film performances in her early teens. As a fan it was a disappointment to see her abandon her Disney and other Disney-type films. After 1968 her performances in films were run-of-the-mill and the new image she tried to portray under Boulting's mentorship was phony. I think her decline in box-office appeal substantiates my opinion.

Comments: Hey all you fans out there. I am sending some lovely letters to Hayley that I have received by e-mail and regular mail letting her know that we would all like an autobiography and a studio album of the wonderful songs she has performed on the stage. Please send me an e-mail to show your support by just saying that you would like one or the other or both. You can address the e-mail to me, or to Hayley. I know I have met so many fans at her shows who have expressed interest in Hayley writing a book about her amazing life or recording the songs she has performed live on the stage. Here's your chance to let Hayley know your feelings about this, so please send your e-mails voicing your opinions on wanting her to do these two things. My e-mail address is billlucas0823@verizon.net
Also, I am sending these e-mails to some of the record companies to try to gain interest in a new studio album.

Comments: Hayley, I am not sure if you read these notes. However,I decided to write it. I am almost your age and a great admirer of your. When I was 16th years old (year 1963), without knowing any english I had the ability to get a dictionary and writte a letter to the Disney studios at Burbank, California to ask for a photo of yours. The day I received it, I felt very happy. It was a great gift for me.
My dream was to meet you (and marry you). A boy thinking like a film story. Years later, I had the opportuity to study in California but never wrote again until this day that navigating in internet I found this website. I hope that you and your family are doing very well.

Comments: If you search HAYLEY MILLS and My Space, you get to see a newsreel of Hayley and her parents from 2/22/64. The footage shows Hayley putting her hand and footprints into cement at Grauman's Chinese Theater. Remarkable achievement for a 17 year-old!!!I remember reading about the ceremony in teenage fan magazines many years ago, and would have much preferred to have been there than sitting in my boring 8th grade classes. I would have even been thrilled just to have seen that newsreel when I was a young Hayley fan. Oh well,I'm STILL a Hayley fan and glad I FINALLY got to see the newsreel thanks to Hayley's posting it. When you watch the video be sure to check out the 60's fashions and hairdos the people around her are sporting. The paparazzi was also well represented. The images fly by fast, though, so you might have to view it more than once. Good luck and enjoy.

She is still beautiful, very elegant, very open, very friendly. She signed my playbill and before she turned to leave, she reached out and patted me on the shoulder, smiled and said "Goodbye." She will never know how thrilling that was for me. I will never forget her.

To this day, I have yet to see it in reruns on tv. When I was 14 years old I made the statement that when I got married and had a daughter, I would name her Hayley. I LOVED the name the first time I ever heard it; it was a very uncommon name back in my day, but not uncommon in this day and age though. I named my daughter Hayley; and everyone back then thought it so unique, because you never heard it. Anyway, loved your site, and thanks to Hayley's parents for the name that became my daughters.

Furthermore, I hope I can look just as cool as Sir John when I'm 90. He still rocks!!!

Comments: As a boy Hayley was the first media female I had a serious crush on. She was such a unique mixture: physically attractive yet marketed as the total innocent. Much more recently I read "The Sacred Diary of Adrian Plass", a Christian humorist. Aged 15 he was living in a part of Kent near where the Mills family lived. He too was obsessed with her and had fantasies of getting into a relationship with her. In the fantasies, the relationship would start thus: he would be cycling along and come across Hayley with her bike. She's stopped because her bike had a mechanical fault. He, knight in shining armour, would rectify the fault and she would be eternally grateful. Well he was only 15 and he got over it eventually.

I look forward to seeing Tiger Bay this coming Saturday (September 27th), as I believe I remember a scene from that movie. I was only 8 or so when it came out into the theaters so it is perhaps my only memory of a movie that I saw that young ! The scene that I rememember is of a teenage girl being interviewed by a policeman, answering his questions about the murderer in a very vague way "was he tall or short? Tallish"...etc. I must have found it very funny at the time to even remember it.

Comments: I was invited to go see "In Search of the Castaways" as a Christmas Gift when the movie was released. Instantly, I fell in love with the most beautiful, kind and superb actress, Hayley Mills. I may get this wrong, but I use to know, Hayley, her mom; Catherine, the Great; Rose, aunt?; Vivien, Godmother - Vivien Leigh (Gone With The Wind) Mills. Thorughout the years, I saved 3,652 photos of her. When my family split, I was to live with relatives in Salem, IND. While I was at school, one of my cousins' burned all my Hayley Mills colletions. I still have her album, "Let's Get Together." I have Let's Get Together on a 45 RPM, as well as, the album. I also have other albums she had made. I have the 45, America, etc, she sung in Pollyanna. In high school, I wrote an essay all I know about a person I would like to meet, etc.. for our English Class, I got an A+. When I was sixteen, I met Peter Brown, actor from Summer Magic, at the Great Smokey Mountains. That is as close as I have ever been to Hayley MIlls. I have many of her movies, I make extra tapes cause I want to have the movie after others get destroyed. I have an original 8X10 autographed B&W photo of her she sent me in 1997. Her play, The King and I was playing in downtown Derby City. Something else came up, I couldn't attentd. As a child friends and family always made fun of my (Passion) for Ms Mills. Knowing her today, we can honestly say she has grown up to be a wonderful entertainer! An inspiring actress for many young ladies to follow, which none will imitate. God Bless You Hayley Mills. SMILE, cause you are loved!

Comments: "The Parent Trap"(1961) is just a darling movie. I loved it when I was little (I'm now 26) and I saw it tonight and I just loved seeing it again. I still love it, so much that I recorded it. Hayley was so cute and precocious in it and it is AMAZING that they did the filming of her to make her a twin so well. I couldn't even see any difference between "the other girl" that represented the other her with her back turned even. Maureen O'Hara was beautiful and still looks good to this day (so does Hayley!)and the father was very handsome! All around great actors/actresses!
This is a very informative site!

Comments: Happy Birthday to the most beautiful and talented actress in the world. Looking forward to seeing your new show in the UK this fall. It was great to see Hayley last week at the Hollywood Collector's show. She is still as remarkable as we all knew her to be 40 years ago. We all need to stick together and write the studios and request seeing more of Hayley. From attending her plays, and other venues, and seeing the many, many fans she has, if everyone would write Disney, Universal, and Warner, perhaps we all would get to see more of Hayley. Let's all get together and shower the studio with letters and e-mails requesting to see more of our favorite girl on the screen!

Place was full of 50+ guys who were in love with her in the '60s. She was quite gracious and I have an autographed photo ($20 charge per autograph) and some video I shot. The fellow ahead of me had 16 items signed for a total of $320! She was the hit of the show, which was quite a feat since the likes of Janet Leigh were also there!

Comments: I have just acquired the new Disney DVD release of The Moonspinners. What is the matter with those people? Last year, they released two excellent, high quality DVD sets of Pollyanna and The Parent Trap. I can understand not producing two disks each time - there is only so much extraneous material available, but this new DVD is inexcusable. It looks like it's been recorded straight off a video tape - the quality is apalling; indeed, I have an old video that is superior in quality. And not to issue the film in it's original screen format (or both!) is just criminal. It seems to be impossible to contact Disney to express my disappointment, so if you know a way....

You have a great website which I just happened to come upon a little over 24 hours ago. I'm hoping to hear from you sometime on the 30th as I nailed the final trivia question & am hoping that since no one got it the last month that I will be the only one and win the Swiss Family Robinson dvd. I've got those wonderful Pollyanna & Parent Trap Vault Disney 2 disc sets & they are absolutely as good as it gets. Thanks again for a great site.

Comments: Hey Bob, I just wanted to say thanks for choosing me as the winner of your H.M trivia contest (contest #10)! I received the Swiss Family DVD in the mail a couple weeks ago, and it's awesome! I'm sure that you and everyone reading this will agree that Hayley Mills is one of those rare Hollywood gems whose movies become more enjoyable with increased viewings. That's why when I heard that Disney was releasing special edition DVD's of Pollyanna & Parent Trap, I was pleasantly surprised! For anyone reading this who enjoys the aforementioned movies and has yet to get them on DVD, trust me when I say that they are top notch! If you're someone like me who likes a whole lot of extras on your DVDs, Pollyanna & Parent Trap (as well as Old Yeller & Swiss Family Robinson) are LOADED with extras. But after all is said and done, it is the commentary tracks on both Pollyanna & Parent Trap (provided by Hayley & director David Swift) that will amaze you! Anyway, they are definitely worth checking out! Thanks again Bob for the DVD, and God bless you all!!!

Which is why the correct answer was Eleanor H. Porter. She wrote the novel. David Swift did not. As Diane correctly pointed out, he only wrote the screenplay, which was based on the novel.

I was 12 yars old at that time and I literally fell in love with her after seeing that movie...so much so that while it payed at the local theatre, I viewed it 12 times, sometimes hiding in the theatre after the initial showing and wtchng it again for free. I at one time years ago owned the soundtrack, complete with dialogue...and yes, I currently, own the video!
Not long ago, I researched many of the actors who were in that movie and found that 90% are now deceased! Long Live Hayley!

Comments: I saw the Vigina Monologues at the Westside Theatre in New York June 23rd. It was more of a reading than a play. Hayley was very good...reading the parts from a tough-talking street wise girl to more of an adorable, funnny part which reminded me of her Disney movies. Got to meet Hayley and have my picture taken with her after the show. She is very approachable and down to earth. She came out through the main lobby and stayed as long as anyone wanted to talk to her her, get her autograph or have a picture made. Then, she left alone walking down 43rd street. A lady said, "I don't believe she's walking home by herself." I've been a fan since I saw Pollyanna when I was 13. Meeting her was a night I'll always remember.

Comments: I was so pleased to find this site, I have been a fan of Hayley's since I was a little girl. I was also mistaken for her (as a little girl I am 47yrs now)I have the same colour hair, same nose, lips and eyes like Hayley's so its no surprising everyone I ever met thought I was her double. Even now, I saw Hayley on the TV when her parents had renewed their wedding vow. People who had forgotten her, (or not seen her for awhile, saw her on TV and told me even now how much I look like her. Keep up the good work on this page I shall be tuning in every so often. Will look forward to hearing from people who like to chat about her.

Comments: Growing up I saw The Parent Trap thought Hayley Mills so beautiful. This may be due to having a best friend who looked almost exactly like her. Later I became an admirer of a britpop band, Kula Shaker, whose singer is about my age. I then learned Crispian Mills was the song of Hayley. What a talented family!

Comments: Hi I'm an English guy with a pretty dull life, but today I heard that Sir John Mills would be renewing his marriage vows with his wife (after 60 happy years) in a village close to where I live. I thought I'd take a stroll out there, down the canal and through the Buckinghamshire mud and got to see it pretty close. Sir John looked very frail, but smiled and waved a lot to the crowd. Just caught sight of Hayley. To all you fans there, she still looks BEAUTIFUL! I'd only really taken slight notice of her before on things like The Flame Trees of Thika, but having seen her for real, am now encouraged to see more of her work in the movies. Glad to find this site tonight.

Yet rarely, does one see charisma like Hayley has! I think her charisma is the 'something extra' that makes her so special to so many of us. Wouldn't it be great if we could see more of her on stage, TV , or in movies!!!

Hi!
I have already put some words down on Robin White's Hayley Mills pages where I mentioned that I was born exactly one month before Hayley and immediately fell in love with her when I saw "Pollyanna". If she ever reads this please let her know that I still feel a lump between my chest and my stomach when my eyes catch her picture or name like the other day when I was looking through some old magazines from way back when and there saw her wonderful, smiling face fronting me.....

Hayley took some time off of her "Parent Trap" schedule to be with her
father Sir John Mills, and her mother Mary Hayley Bell to visit the
"Swiss Family Robinson" ride.("Swiss Family Robinson" is the 1960 Disney
movie John starred, with Tommy Kirk,Kevin Corcoran, and Deborah Walley).

Comments: Great page. Am a big fan of all of Ms. Mills' work, though "The Truth About Spring" is a sentimental favorite. How I envied James MacArthur. Even have a copy of th 1921 H. DeVere Stacpoole novel the movie was based on. It's called "Satan." In the novel, Tommy Tyler is recently deceased and Jude ("Spring" in the movie) travels with her 30-year-old brother Satan (that's the character's given name, not a nickname). The Ashton character is a stuffy 22-year-old British "young man of leisure" named Bobby Ratcliffe (Jude calls him "Rat"). Basically the same plot, though a bit racier (racy for 1920, anyway), and 15-year-old Jude "cusses like a sailor." There was a 1925 silent movie based on the novel entitled "Satan's Sister." "The Truth About Spring" was originally entitled "Miss Jude" but for whatever reason the names and title were changed before filming began.
Though this is my sentimental favorite, I find "Whistle Down The Wind" to be her best movie, storywise, while "The Flame Trees of Thika" is my favorite "adult" Hayley movie.

Comments: I'm an actor musician. I was extremely priviledged to have worked with Hayley in the Australian tour of the King & I. In fact, it was my professional debut. At this stage, (and I've had the priviledge to have worked with many great actors), Hayley Mills has an extremely special way of communicating, when she acts. She is a true artist, in the pure sense of the word, and she always humbles herself to anyone. The way she works is the utmost best in the the professional sense of the word. Her discipline, creativity, magic is like an aura that never fades, rather, it continues to grow. I stumbled across this web site and found it quite nice to have placed it on. As an actor, telling the public who have seen her in the film or on stage, she is an honest and lovely person. There is no facade, but a genuine warmth. Oh, and she's not that tall either! Good work, continue with it.

In 1966 I drew a picture of her in pencil on a piece of notebook paper, believing someday I would send it to her in exchange for an autograph . It still sits in a box in my basement more than 30 years later, slightly yellowed but just as meaningful, a bitterweet reminder of my own age of innocence. It is comforting to know that I was alone, and to share with others for the first time these boyhood fantasies.

Comments: This site is a great tribute to an extraordinary actress and charming person! Hayley's charming personality seems to come from her wonderful family that gave her both an English country girl and high society upbringing. I would love to see a film made about her childhood. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, HAYLEY - you are so special to so many!!!!!!

Please do not be tired to keep your page topical. I`m a fan of Hayley Mills since 1962 (I have seen the movie "The Parent Trap"). In Europe the TV-Broadcasting are rarly plays movies with Hayley Mills. Not all of her movies are translated in german. The european press never notice about her current work. Your Page is a valuable source of news for me. Please keep up your work on this site. Rudolf
PS: There is a full moon tonight. Happy Birthday Hayley!!!

I grew up watching Pollyanna, That Darn Cat, and The Parent Trap. I visited your web page to get to know some things about her. I didn't know Kula Shaker's vocalist was her son! :) It's great to have gotten these info, and I hope you'd continue giving us surfers updates on the greatest actress I've grown to love. :)

Comments: Great web page. I fell in love with Hayley when I was nine or ten (I'm 42 now) and I've never gotten over her. Come to think of it, the two girlfriends that I've loved the most look a little like her, and they're both blondes. Anyway I have most of her early movies (Tiger Bay, Pollyana, Whistle Down the Wind, Parent Trap etc.) and just got a copy of The Trouble With Angels from Critics Choice Videos. I still haven't been able to find copies of either The Truth About Spring or Gypsy Girl. I also have some old teen fan magazines from 1963, an autographed photo Hayley sent me in 1990, plus a brief note she wrote to me, and an original "Let's Get Together With Hayley Mills" record album. I also have some comic books (The Moonspinners, and In Search of the Castaways) and an old paperback of The Parent Trap with Hayley on the cover. Anyway, I find Hayley Mills to be one of the most charming, magical and beautiful women on this or any other planet that I know of. Anyone with info on where I can get Gypsy Girl or The Truth About Spring please e-mail me. Thanks for the web site, Greg.

Comments: I think I have a neat story to add...I am only 23, but I once dated a girl from Hampshire, ENGLAND, who's character, personality, stamina, and even looks to a degree, 100% perfectly matched that of HAYLEY MILLS. She was a British nanny grown up on the British farm with a particular proper accent and posture, and royalty like qualaties (that the rest of her family didn't as much hold) much similar to HAYLEY. It was a perfect love story, taking me over to that tiny island, giving me the time of my life, and the hardest break-up of my life in the end. I have been a HAYLEY MILLS fan since I can remember, I guess it's that 'prefect personality', and have seen her perform live once, and won't hesitate to pop in a classic film whenever I have the first chance. Just like everyone else on this marvelous web sight, I also believe in the 'perfect girl'; and if I were her age in 1964, she would have been 'the one'. Well, at least I got the chance to see what it was like to date her, and for those of you who havn't had that chance, well, It's the most wonderful thing and I'd do it again and again. Some day mabey i'll meet HAYLEY, and one day even my own HAYLEY. ANGLOPHILES-SAAB OWNERS-and MILLS FANS OF THE WORLD UNITE!!!

Comments: I (Steve) loved Hayley in "The Parent Trap" & "Pollyanna". She should have been nominated for "Supporting Actress" for "Pollyanna" instead of only being given an honorary or "special" Oscar, this happened because she was a child. Only 2 actors under 18 have actually "won" an Oscar and this is something we are trying to change... The youth of Hollywood many times give Oscar worthy performances in movies (like in this year's "October Sky" & "Sixth Sense") yet they are consistently overlooked since they have to compete against adult actors. This is why we are attempting to get The Academy of Motion Pictures Arts & Sciences to add two new Oscar Awards for those under 18... Best Young Actor in a Motion Picture & Best Young Actress in a Motion Picture. For information on how you can help this happen in time for the next Oscar ceremony PLEASE take a minute and visit our new website about this at: http://Hollywoodkids.8m.com We and all young actors need our help! Comments: Great to find your page, having been a fan of Hayley's since 'Tiger Bay'. I've a fair collection of Hayley photos/pics, and my proudest possession is a letter from her which she wrote in answer to one of mine sent to her in the mid-60s. I did belong to a fan club in those days called the 'Let's Get Together' club - I wonder if anyone else recalls it? I know they managed to get hold of some film posters and cinema photographs, of which I have a few. Last year went to Sir John Mill's one-man show at a local theatre and he was amazing. Juliet was appearing in a play here at that time, and with Mary Hayley Bell was in the audience - but sadly Hayley was away on tour in a play. Keep up the good work!

Comments: You're page is super fantastic. I've been a fan of Hayley's since I was 10 years old. No one has ever mentioned the last movie she made, After Midnight. All I know is that it was made in Ireland about 1989. I have seen all of Hayley's movies, except this one. I have all the others on video. I went and seen "The King and I" several times, as it played here in Louisville Ky, Cinncinati Oh, Indianapolis In, and Nashville Tn. I also went to Houston Tx to see Hayley's last performance. I got to see Hayley several times after the show, and each time she was so nice to me. I have addresses for PBS, D-tours, Disney, etc. If enough people would write and request it, perhaps they would put "The King & I" on home video. I'M sure they have a master copy filed away. I've written Disney about doing it, and they sounded somewhat interested, so if enough people will write in, everyone will get a chance to see Hayley's wonderful performance. Also, if everyone will write to Disney, and other film studios, then they will start casting Hayley in future films. We need to show the studios that she has many, many fans. Also there are about 25 songs that Hayley has recorded and only half of them are availiable on cd. If enough people request them at Disney Records, maybe they will release a greatest hits album, since they finally released her "Let's Get Together with Hayley Mills" album.
If anyone has any information on the movie, "After Midnight". please e-mail me at bill_lucas@wmg.com. Also, did anyone know that Hayley, sister Juliet, and their father John was going to make a movie called, The Last Straw", but when I asked Hayley about it, she said that the project never got off the ground. Keep up the great work on your Hayley site.

Comments: I have been a fan of Hayley for over 35 years. My collection of memorabelia on her is quite large, with many hard to find items, such as comic books and paper dolls, foreign posters, and books wrritten by her parents. My prize possession is an autographed copy of her book "My God". I love her and always will, so going through your web page was a pure joy. I have met her 3 times, and she is so sweet and generous with her time, and treats her fans with kindness. I have copies of all of her movies, English also, and many TV programs.

Comments: As many others have indicated, I became a Hayley Mills fans after seeing The Parent Trap at the age of 9.
I began a large Hayley Mills scrapbook which I kept throughout the years, but somewhat lost track of her recently. I just
started surfing the Web to locate info & found more than I expected, including this wonderful site - the most comprehensive by far!
However, I am SO angry with myself for not knowing about the King & I tour, especially since it came to Charlotte, NC. I would have traveled
out of state for it...the last production is in Chicago, is that right? Are you sure Hayley is no longer with the troupe? What bad luck! I will
try to keep up...please keep us posted on any other appearances or tours. By the way, I didn't name my daughter after Hayley, but I did name my
beautiful golden retriever in her honor. Glad to see so many Hayley fans out there.

Comments: At eight years of age, my life changed when I saw Hayley Mills in The Parent Trap. She was my idol. Through some 35 years or so later, I am still fascinated with her movies. When she appeared in the Parent Trap II in the mid-eighties, I was delighted that she was returning to view again. She appeared in the King and I in the winter in near-by Nashville but I was unable to see her. Tough luck, wasn't it? Anyway, your web page is a great reference to her. Thanks for having it for fans like me to view. We of my age all adored her. Do you suppose the Disney folks will ever entice her to do appearances with some Disney movies and promotions of her previous movies? You know she and Michael Anderson, Jr. would be neat to see together again promoting In Search of the Castaways, wouldn't they? Oh, well, it was just a thought. Keep up the good work.

last appearance in The King and I. as i have said before,
sitting alone in a darkened theatre without the
distractions of having to be social, and you get to sit five
rows from someone you have admired so in your youth, creates
what woolf would call a "moment of being" for me that fades
hard. i don't know what it is that allows the fin to break
the cotton wool surface of life, but i certainly appreciate
it's disturbance. and thank you, again, ms. mills for that

Comments: I really enjoyed reading thru your HM webpage. There is lotsof good stuff here to read and enjoy. Haley Mills, to me, isthe epitome of innocence, beauty, and hope for the future. When you see and listen to her in that 1959 TIGER BAY, thenin POLLY
ANNA, and finally in THE PARENT TRAP, it strikes adeep chord in my psyche. Here was beauty and innocence andthat winning personality and accent. It's not really evenHM I'm seeing. It's my own youth and the girls I was growingup with, in a bygone day. It's
great to see Mills jumpstarting her career with a goodmusical and very amusing that her son Crispian [?!] has hisown fame as a rocker. But, Hayley will always be that sweetmischievious girl who haunted my own childhood --somethinglike "Estella" in Dicken
s GREAT EXPECTATIONS. Your webpagekeeps that hope and beauty alive for us all. THANKS!

Comments: Parent Trap and Haley Mills fans, please see "The Parent Trap: A
Myth of the Reunited Self," in Popular Culture Review Vol VI No 1. I
would appreciate feedback on the idea that the movie was and is a myth for
the children of divorce and for children in general in the age of divorce.
A myth, in the sense that it is an empowering story, and even a set of
instructions for how to "torpedo" parental decisions, like remarriage.
That is what the twins did to Vickie, you may remember.
--
I disagree with Mr. Broad. First of all, their
parents had been divorced for some time and the children didn't know
anything about it. Second, neither parent knew what the other was doing,
or planning to do, until their children got involved. Third, there is no
reason why children can't try to influence what their parents do; they
just don't have the right to "force" them to do it. Fourth, their
parents could have stopped them any time they wanted.
--
And lastly, why does there have to be a hidden agenda involved in
every film script? I thought this was a very enjoyable movie. I still
do. And I think that was all that the writer intended.
