Hayley In Hollywood

[The Hayley Mills Film Festival (.jpg image)] During May and June, The Disney Channel is showing four of the most popular movies of one of the best-loved teenage stars ever: Hayley Mills. Premiering on consecutive Saturday nights are "Pollyanna," "The Moon-Spinners," "The Parent Trap," and "Summer Magic" ("The Parent Trap" and "Pollyanna" are closed captioned.) Check listings for exact times.

Later this summer you won't want to miss the world television premiere of "Parent Trap II," with Hayley Mills again playing the dual role of identical twins. In "The Parent Trap" the mischievous teenagers laid the trap; in the sequel, 25 years later, the twins fall right into it.

The Hayley Mills Film Festival opens appropriately with the movie that marked Hayley's American debut and launched her career with Disney. She plays an orphan who comes to live with her wealthy, spinster aunt, whose control over the town renders it staid and cheerless. But Pollyanna's sunny optimism affects one person after another, until the whole town has changed. Her apparently unloving aunt is the last holdout. The star-studded cast includes Jane Wyman, Richard Egan, and Karl Malden.

Here is Hayley Mills at 18, playing Nikky Ferris, a teenager vacationing with her aunt on the beautiful Greek island of Crete. Mystery and romance are in the air and Hayley is caught up in both. She finds herself deeply involved in a web of jewel thieves and espionage in this action-packed movie, set against a landscape of clear blue sky and glistening sea.

THE PARENT TRAP

Hayley Mills plays identical twins who discover each other at summer camp, having been separated as babies when their parents divorced. The mischievious girls scheme to switch places and reunite their parents in this ever-popular comedy - the inspiration for Hayley's new movie, "Parent Trap II," premiering this summer on The Disney Channel.

SUMMER MAGIC

This ragtime musical motion picture is a joyous contribution to The Hayley Mills Film Festival. Hayley as Nancy Carey bubbles with energy, imagination, determination and song as she saves her family from economic disaster.
Also starring Burl Ives in a singing role (Carl Sandburg called him the mightiest ballad singer of any century), "Summer Magic" is Disney magic, filled with wonderful songs by Richard and Robert Sherman (Mary Poppins). Co-stars Dorothy McGuire, Deborah Walley, Peter Brown, and in true ragtime style, a gorgeous red Stutz Bearcat roadster.
